According to a report by Habr.com, the Skolkovo Foundation, which was assigned to establish the consoles’ core technology, has encountered significant technical challenges. Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Anton Gorelkin, addressed these issues in a statement highlighting the limitations of the Russian-made ‘Elbrus’ processor, developed by the Moscow Center of SPARC Technologies.
Gorelkin acknowledged that the Elbrus processor, while a step towards technological independence, lags behind advanced hardware produced by companies like Intel and AMD. This transparency underscores the difficulties Russia faces in producing competitive gaming hardware.
The current project reportedly includes two consoles. One is described as a low-performance device, while the other focuses on cloud-based streaming and is priced at a modest $45. A recently unveiled prototype of the latter revealed an Xbox-style controller, accompanied by a compact remote and a USB dongle.
